Get in touch
Send us a message via the contact form, WhatsApp or email. Tell us about your wishes and the Sak Yant design that appeals to you.
Personal consultation
Together we discuss the best Sak Yant design for you — meaning, placement and size. You receive a tailored proposal, completely without obligation.
The ceremony
On the agreed date you visit our studio in Breda. The Sak Yant ceremony is guided by a certified ajarn — traditional and spiritual.
Aftercare & protection
After the session you receive detailed aftercare instructions. We remain available for all your questions about care and the spiritual meaning of your Sak Yant.
What you need to knowbefore your session
A Sak Yant is more than a tattoo — it is a sacred ceremony. Proper preparation ensures the best experience.
Dress code
Wear respectful clothing that covers shoulders and knees. White or light-colored clothing is preferred for the ceremony.
Mental preparation
We recommend not drinking alcohol on the day of the ceremony and arriving with an open, respectful attitude. Meditation beforehand is a wonderful preparation.
What to bring
Bring an offering (traditionally flowers, incense, and a white cloth). We can help you with this if you don't know where to buy these items.
Pain and duration
The traditional bamboo method feels different from a machine tattoo. Most sessions last 30-60 minutes, depending on the design. The pain is generally well tolerable.
Everything about booking your Sak Yant
How much does a Sak Yant tattoo cost?
Prices vary depending on the design and size. Browse our Sak Yant designs for inspiration. Contact us for an exact price estimate for your desired design.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance, especially during peak season (November-February). Last-minute appointments are sometimes possible — feel free to contact us to check availability.
Can I bring my own design?
Yes, you can discuss your own design. An authentic Sak Yant contains specific symbols and mantras. Browse our designs page for traditional options, or learn more about Sak Yant to understand the symbolism.
Is a Sak Yant painful?
The traditional bamboo or steel method feels different from a tattoo machine. Most people describe it as a tapping or pricking sensation. It's generally very manageable. Read more on our practical information page.
Do I need to be Buddhist to get a Sak Yant?
No, you don't need to be Buddhist. Anyone who respects the tradition is welcome. We only ask that you approach the ceremony with an open and respectful attitude.
How do I care for my Sak Yant tattoo after the session?
After the ceremony, you'll receive detailed aftercare instructions. In short: keep the tattoo clean and dry for the first 3 days, avoid direct sunlight and swimming pools for 2 weeks. Find all details on our practical information page.
Can I get multiple Sak Yants in one session?
Yes, depending on the size and complexity. It's common to start with a foundational Sak Yant like the Gao Yord, and return later for additional designs.
Do you also offer machine tattoos?
We primarily focus on the traditional handpoke method (Sak Yant). This is the authentic way these sacred tattoos have been applied for centuries. For machine versions, we can refer you to trusted studios.
Your Sak Yant appointment in Breda
Why Breda is the best place for your Sak Yant
Breda is home to Sakyan Studio, where master Silas van Gemert continues the authentic Sak Yant tradition. With over 25 years of experience and an official blessing from Thailand, he offers the most authentic Sak Yant experience in Europe.
With us, you work directly with an experienced Buddhist monk who masters the traditional bamboo method. Every tattoo is accompanied by a sacred ceremony with prayers and blessing rituals — this is what sets a real Sak Yant apart from a regular tattoo.
The difference between a real Sak Yant and a copy
An authentic Sak Yant is only applied by an Ajarn (master) or monk who has the proper training and blessing rights. The mantras, prayers, and ceremony are essential — without these elements, it's merely a tattoo, not a Sak Yant. We guarantee a fully authentic experience.
Safety and hygiene
Your health and safety come first. We exclusively use sterile, disposable needles and follow strict hygiene protocols. Our location is regularly inspected and meets all health standards.
Personalized guidance
Each Sak Yant design carries a unique meaning. During the consultation, we help you choose the perfect design that aligns with your intentions — whether it's protection, fortune, love, or spiritual growth. You'll receive a fully customized proposal.
